Being Sovereign: The Sovereign Women® Manifesto for Life
Feb 05, 2024Back in 2018, when I was working on the development of the Women's Leader Archetypes, I had a wonderful group of 538 women participating in my research. One of the activities I gave them was to define what a Sovereign Woman meant to them. I was absolutely blown away by the depth of the responses I received. Stories, verses, favourite quotes, voice messages, and emails.
The idea for a Manifesto grew from those conversations. I followed up with a request. Please complete this sentence: A Sovereign Woman is... From the many responses, I drew out the essence of the Sovereign. I hope you love the result as much as I do.
The Sovereign Women® Manifesto
A Sovereign Woman…
Is true to herself
She knows herself - her strengths, assets, weaknesses, and flaws, and how to best
use each aspect of herself in any situation. She creates the life she wants and enjoys
it to the full – her way. She takes no prisoners when pursuing her passions.
Is self-assured
She has true inner strength and confidence in her ability. She is unconcerned with
other’s opinions of her and doesn’t need anyone’s approval. She is comfortable with
herself and shares her knowledge, experience and care with others.
Is self-aware
She owns her light and her shadow alike, and leads with integrity, courage and
compassion. A sovereign woman embraces all parts of herself, she is unique; she
knows that, and she loves it!
Knows her worth
She stands poised, holding a clear and steady gaze. She knows her worth, speaks
with authority and grace, and moves with purpose and precision. She sits serenely in
her own true power of knowing exactly who she is and what she brings to the world.
She is soft, yet unbreakable.
Wields her power wisely
She is the creator of her own power and uses it wisely from a place of truth. She
wields her power with great compassion, to generously promote dignity, reward
integrity and claim victory in her work.
Is purposeful and visionary
She cultivates a sense of purpose that lies within everyone and everything she works
with. She works with trust and synchronicity over control. She is like the conductor of
a grand symphony. Every player in the symphony is treasured and actualised.
